Carara National Park This is the northern-most region of Pacific rainforest remaining in Costa Rica, and is the beginning of the transition zone into the tropical dry forests of the northwest. Birds native to both habitats can be found here and the park is therefore a favorite of birders. About 150 scarlet macaws nest and feed throughout the reserve and can usually be seen around dusk flying west down the Río Tárcoles towards the coastal mangroves where they roost for the night. The park is just minutes from your vacation rental. |

Sailing and Snorkeling Ashuma is a comfortable, no-heeling, spacious, fast, quiet, and well equipped sailboat, and she’s and all yours.Ashuma is only available as a private charter so you won’t get stuck on ½ day cruise from hell with a bunch of folks you would rather have gone through life not knowing!Ashuma is a 25-foot Searunner trimaran (she has 3 hulls), which means there is a big cockpit with room for 8, and outside that cockpit are trampolines for lounging with lots more space, for lots of folks. But we limit Ashuma to 6 guests, and only your friends or family are invited.Ashuma charters by the hour with a 2-hour minimum; soft drinks, beer and wine are included as well as snorkeling equipment. Troll for big fish or watch whale and dolphin, gorgeous sunsets and scenery. More snacks are included as the time of your tour extends. We recommend a three-hour tour! |
